Kyoto Takigi-noh went with lete Yoshikuni Katsu

Kyoto's early summer feature "Kyoto Takigi-noh: noh theater performed at night by a fire." is on its 70th year of being held annually on June 1 and 2 in the grounds of Heian Shrine. With a background of the greenery of the Higashiyama mountains and the vermilion color of the outer hall of worship, performances of Kanze- and Kongoh-style noh plays and Okura-style kyogen plays, and which never fail to draw the audience into the subtle and profound atmosphere of the medieval world. The pictures were taken five years ago.

京都の初夏の風物詩「京都薪能」。毎年６月１日・２日に平安神宮の境内で開かれる京都薪能は今年で７０回目だそうだ。境内の東山連峰の緑と拝殿の朱を借景に観世・金剛・大蔵各流儀による能・狂言が上演され、観客を中世の幽玄の世界に誘う。写真は５年前の今日。
